Chelf Law also provides legal services for medical practices and small businesses across Kentucky.
Chelf Law was built on nearly a decade of firsthand law enforcement experience. We know the profession because we’ve lived it—and we understand what is at stake when a first responder’s career, reputation, or livelihood is on the line.
That experience shapes everything we do. Our clients aren’t just cases. They’re the people who protect and serve our communities, and their interests come first.

No layers of communication. No unnecessary red tape. Clients work directly with their attorney from the initial consultation through resolution.
Critical incidents do not follow a 9-to-5 schedule. First responders are there when their communities need them—day or night. From bomb squad and detective experience, Chelf Law knows firsthand the realities of responding to high-stakes incidents on a moment's notice. Chelf Law believes first responders deserve the same commitment. When a first responder needs legal representation, we are prepared to respond.
Experience in digital forensics and internet crimes investigations provides a deeper understanding of digital evidence. When technology is central to a case, Chelf Law has the knowledge to handle it—not simply hand it off.

Before he was an attorney, J. Tyler Chelf was a police officer, detective, and bomb squad member. He spent nearly ten years serving with the Lexington Police Department, including seven years as a member of the Hazardous Devices Unit and detective across the Special Victims Section, Crimes Against Children Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, and Computer Forensics Unit. He obtained his law degree while working full time as a detective. He now represents and defends law enforcement and first responders across Kentucky.
